Graduated from Johns Hopkins University. Won a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford. Commissioned as a U.S. Army officer. He served in Afghanistan with the 82nd Airborne Division and earned a Bronze Star.

2010 Life

Published The Other Wes Moore, comparing his life with another man of the same name from Baltimore serving a life sentence for murder. Both were fatherless Black boys from the same city. The book became a bestseller.

2023 Event

Sworn in as the 63rd governor of Maryland. First Black governor in the state's history. Third Black person elected governor of any U.S. state.
